Zoe Nada - Nothing
A few months ago I heard this song for the first time as we were driving in Sonoma County listening to our favorite Spanish music. Mana, Alaska y Dinara, Vicente Fernandez, you name it. Then my brother started playing the CD of Zoe and was like "Wow, how did I not know about them?" Needless to say this is one of my favorite Rock songs that I've recently learned about. Enjoy Zoe's Nada.

Yummy by Juval Porat
So, one of my new hobbies is making music videos with family and friends. I will start putting up the ones that I've made.
Most recently, my friend Juval Porat, who is currently in Berlin, asked me if I was interested in helping him make a music video. You see, he sings, writes his own music, and produces it. I thought it'd be a fun thing to do so on a sunny LA weekend in January we headed to Malibu and Venice to film footage for his song Yummy.
About four days ago, I finished putting it together. I am actually very satisfied with the finish product! I am not one bit of a professional, so in my world, this is a very nice personal achievement.
Enjoy Juval's Yummy song. I'm hoping he puts out more music because I really enjoy his music.
Acabo de hacer un video con mi amigo Juval Porat. Juval canta, escribe canciones, y produce la musica. Hicimos este video en Malibu y Venice Beach en un dia de enero!

House of Sand
Tonight I stayed home and watched House of Sand (Casa de Areia) with Fernanda Montenegro. The film truly captivated me with it's delicate yet engaging story in the sand dunes of Northern Brazil. The cinematography was just phenomenal. I first learned about Fernanda Montenegro after watching Central Station.
The film begins in 1910 as a mother (Fernanda Montenegro) and her pregnant daughter (Fernanda Torres) traverse the sand dunes to begin a colony, forced upon the husband of the pregnant daughter. Eventually, the rest of the crew escapes and the husband dies leaving an older mother and her pregnant daughter at the mercy of the desert. Their main goal is to leave the desert and move back to the city, but the immense desert and lack of resources impede their goal.
I very much enjoyed the film and the ending was just perfect.

Mambo
I grew up watching classic Cantinflas and Resortes films; two of the most popular comedy actors in Mexico of all time. Resortes (like Cantinflas), aside from his comedic chips,
Aside from his comedic chops, he was a fantastic dancer... a comedic dancer. In the clip below, we see him dancing the Mambo. This is probably one of my favorite film clips of any film; it just makes me want to dance. And, who hasn't ever hear this song by Perez Prado?

Carrapicho
Life continues to speed up with many things. But the weather in LA has been fantastic. Over the past few weeks I've been able to visit Malibu, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove, and San Clemente. I did not take pics but I'm going to try to put up pictures/videos of more places I visit.
For now, enjoy this Brazilian song of Carrapicho. I love this song!

Bodega Bay, California
Over the holidays, I headed to Bodega Bay, California for some fun with the family. Despite the cold and rainy day, we had an awesome time and Bodega was as picturesque as ever. Here are some photos I took.
